However the services we're trying to build, took years to build on the other platforms - the current BBC Red Button service is the cumulative work of ten years of development. We started work in building the Freesat service back in the summer of 2007 - pretty much as soon as the BBC Trust gave the BBC permission to launch Freesat, we began our build project. Wasn't the Freesat spec availible to the BBC well before it was launched in May last year? It seems a bit odd that it can have taken them so long to do? The tech team as a whole isn't particularly huge, and that makes building and supporting four platforms an interesting challenge! We're still working on Freesat - our recent emphasis has been on the audio switching option of the Sport Multiscreen. However it does take time, and we always have lots of work to do across all our platforms. We obviously want our Freesat service to offer the same options as our services on the other platforms. Thanks for the reply BBCi Tech Team - I'm sure as the Freesat service is still only going out to a very small proportion of your audiance at the moment (think at the last count the number of freesat boxes sold stood at around 200,000 doesn't it - compaired to around 10m users on both Sky and Freeview) the work for the interactive services on it are a bit down the lists of priorities compaired to the other platforms - hence why the regular events on the red button accessed via the bridges on Sky and Freeview for instance havn't been implemented into the Freesat bridge yet? It was great when FA cup football was live on BBC as you could listen to 5Live commentary while watching tv coverage I don't know which.īBC coverage of Ireland's 6 Nations games (via red button on SKY) means you can listen to BBC Radio Ulster commentary while watching the tv pictures. Note: I'm posting this in the freesat forum rather than the freesat+ forum because it may well be a generic issue with the red button service rather than a HDR specific issue. I was using the Foxsat HDR (live viewing) and the audio button just brought up the "no entry" icon in the top right of the screen. What is this about? How is the audio selected? I couldn't find a way.

The banner went away after a few seconds. The Sports Multiscreen had the same video as BBC 1 NI on Stream 1 but, when I pressed "1" to select it, I got a banner at the bottom the screen which said "Six Nations Rugby - Select Audio" (or something very much like that). During the rugby today (France v Scotland) I had a play with the red button.
